Home / New Patient

Your first visit, simplified.

We want your first appointment to feel effortless. Here's everything you need to know before you arrive — insurance, what to bring, what to expect, and how to get the most out of your visit.

Your first visit

What happens during your new patient exam?

A new patient exam is comprehensive — not a quick peek and out the door. We take time to understand your dental history, your goals, and any concerns you have before recommending anything.

01

Medical & dental history

We review your completed intake forms, discuss any medications or health conditions that may affect your dental care, and note any specific concerns you've brought today.

02

Full set of X-rays

Digital X-rays show us what's happening below the surface — cavities between teeth, bone levels, root health, and bite alignment. Low radiation, instant results.

03

Clinical exam with the doctor

Dr. Sninski or Dr. Schmitt personally examines every tooth, your gum health, bite, jaw function, and soft tissues. Oral cancer screening is included at every exam.

04

Professional cleaning

A thorough cleaning removes plaque and tartar buildup, followed by polishing and flossing. We'll show you any areas that need extra attention at home.

05

Written treatment plan

If any issues are found, you'll receive a written treatment plan with clear explanations and cost estimates before we schedule anything. No surprises, no pressure.

06

Questions answered

We don't rush you out. Whether you have questions about whitening options, a specific concern, or just want to understand what you're looking at on the X-rays — we explain everything.

Questions answered

New patient FAQ.

Plan on about 90 minutes for your first visit. This allows time for X-rays, the clinical exam, a full cleaning, and a chance to go through any findings or treatment recommendations with the doctor. Subsequent recall appointments are typically 45–60 minutes.

Yes — we're a family practice and see patients of all ages. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child's first dental visit by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth coming in. Early visits are mostly about education for parents and getting kids comfortable with the dental environment.

You're not alone — dental anxiety is very common. Our team moves at your pace. We explain every step before doing it, offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for patients who want extra relaxation, and will stop at any time if you need a break. Just tell us when you call that you're anxious — we'll prepare accordingly.

Not at all. Life happens, and what matters is that you're here now. We focus on where you are today and what we can do to get your oral health on track — without any lectures. Starting from scratch after a long gap is something we handle regularly.

Each doctor primarily works out of a specific office — Dr. Sninski at our Cary location, and Dr. Schmitt at Raleigh and Holly Springs. When you book, you'll be scheduled with the doctor at your chosen location. Both doctors are trained to the same standard and share records seamlessly across all 3 offices.

We accept most major credit cards, checks, cash, and CareCredit financing. If you have dental insurance, we'll file claims on your behalf and collect only your portion. For larger treatment plans, we're happy to discuss payment arrangements — just ask at the front desk.
